This Edition is reprinted from 'Poems,' 2 Vols., 1893,
and 'Poems,' Third Series,
1888.

Ed.―This online transcription departs from the printed version in three respects.  I have: (a) numbered stanzas in some of the longer poems, or inserted other reference points, to ease problems in following long passages of text on the screen; (b) added Jean Ingelow's sonnets "Looking Down", "On the Borders of Cannock Chase" and "Failure" to the end of the sequence referenced below (vide page 379);  (c) prefixed the poems "Winstanley" and "Wendover" with introductory notes.
